Civil Discourse Program

The mission of 博天堂官方’s Civil Discourse Program is to promote dialogue that enhances understanding among individuals with diverse viewpoints in an open and respectful environment.

The Commuter

The Commuter is an award-winning student-run newspaper. Our advisor, Rob Priewe, brings twenty years of experience working with the Corvallis Gazette-Times.

Our Mission

Our reporting represents the student body and faculty through relevant events, topical issues and extraordinary achievements of those on campus. It is our goal to be current on journalistic trends and creative with content and design as we train to transition into the industry.

The Commuter staff is diverse in interest: news reporters, photographers, fiction and opinion writers, poets and sports writers. Anyone is welcome to bring their particular talent to the paper.

Talent Grants

Talent grants are available to those who contribute on a regular basis as a member of the staff. Available grant money varies per term and is dependent on the position at the paper and level of involvement.

Print Schedule

We are a weekly publication. During fall, winter, and spring terms, we distribute printed editions every Wednesday. During summer term, we print a monthly edition and post online.

Creative Writing Club

Our goal is to create a friendly community for writers of all levels to grow through practicing their craft with writing prompts, collaborating on projects, and sharing work.

Dance Club

A student-lead club in which all levels of dance are welcome! Whether you want a fun way to keep your body moving, help raise funds, learn a new hobby, or help choreograph, there is room for different opportunities.

Ensembles

The 博天堂官方 Music program is home to several instrumental and vocal music ensembles, representing a variety of students from almost every major at 博天堂官方.

Equestrian Team

Our equestrian team has its first meeting during the second week of fall classes; we also host try-outs during this time. You must be a full-time student (taking 12 credits or more) to participate. Learn more about the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA).

Our goal is to facilitate a love of gardening by providing on-campus space for planting and educational opportunities for students to participate in. We also seek to maintain the established perennials and infrastructure left behind by the horticulture program.

LB Film Club

The LB Film Club is an inclusive club that is looking for and promoting artists, actors, video editors, and others interested in film production. We encourage everyone to join in order to grow their film production skills.

Livestock Judging Team

Competitive livestock judging is a co-curricular activity that is an integral part of 博天堂官方's Animal Science program. Students need not be an agriculture major or have any prior judging experience to participate. The benefits extend beyond the learning and applying of current selection criteria. Communication skills, critical thinking and teamwork are essential personal development characteristics that evolve as a result of the time and effort expended. These valuable developmental traits are of great benefit regardless of future endeavors students ultimately select.

Parents Club

This club is to help advocate for and support parents who are in school come together and share their experiences while finding resources they may not have known about.

Peer Empowerment Project

Our mission is to provide a safe space for reflection, expression, and support for the various struggles and successes associated with college.

Poetry Club

The 博天堂官方 Poetry Club is a vibrant community dedicated to providing students, staff, and community members with a safe space where they can learn about, listen to, read, write, and workshop poetry. All students and community members are welcome!

Rad Tech Club

To promote and encourage the study of radiology among the students of 博天堂官方, assisting interested students in entering the field of radiology and expanding their knowledge of the radiologic sciences through presentations and hands-on experience. The 博天堂官方 Rad Tech Club wants to encourage current radiology students, as well as prospective students, to share ideas and their adventures in the academic and clinical curricula, as well as learning to give back to the community.
